I AM WATCHING MY COUSIN FARAH ON THE APPRENTICE!
She's not a contestant, she's a Broadway singer participating in this
particular episode.

Things
For example, the email my current boss sent to the team announcing that I'm leaving said that I accepted a role outside the big company we work for, which isn't true. Yes, I've accepted a role with another firm, but she knows perfectly well that I'll still be working AT the big company and really, my relationship with the big company will be no different than it is now -- I will be consulting, but as an employee of a different firm.
Lame.
But maaaan...that drama won't rain on my parade because I am SO EXCITED about this new job. I was filling out the tax paperwork and signing a bunch of stuff and I kept wanting to pinch myself because it's all just TOO awesome to be true.
I'm thrilled to have them and from everything I've heard, they're equally thrilled to have me. It's really flattering to not only be qualified for the job, but to have the right DNA for the job...because there's a difference.
2. In other news, GO GIANTS! If you're my Facebook friend you've seen this picture of the Giants shirt I broke down and bought the other day:
My brothers and I have decided that I need to wear the shirt AND the pearls for each of the games. The outfit repeats will be a tall order, but I'll do the best I can.
The thing I love most about all the Giants hubbub is that HOLY COW, you guys -- the energy and the sense of community is awesome! I've been seeing orange all over the place (and not just because it's nearly Halloween, I swear) and it's like the entire bay area is united in the GO GIANTS sentiment.
Suddenly, I care about baseball.
For the last month or so, anyway.
I'm a fair weather fan and I admit it. I'll totally go to a Giants game even when they're not winning though so I'm not THAT bad. I like the all-American'ness of the games. I like paying $6 for a Diet Coke too.
3. Tonight's Agenda: Boot camp. Even though I don't want to.
Tomorrow's Agenda: Another Dailey Method workout followed by a meeting at Starbucks where I'll return my work computer and badge to my old agency. The afternoon will be spent at my leisure and then I'll be going down the street to kick it with the neighbors and look at my across-the-street neighbor's Burning Man pictures.
Saturday's Agenda: More Dailey Method followed by an afternoon of my friend Nolanne, a student estitician, practicing things on my face.
Sunday's Agenda: Another tennis lesson followed by a Halloween BBQ at my friend Jenn's house, where I've been advised that the menu is very specific and Halloween'y and that no, for reals, I shouldn't bring anything. Interesting!
Monday's Agenda: More Dailey Methoding and then a spa day! WOO HOO!
Tuesday's Agenda: FIRST DAY AT MY NEW JOB YAYAYAYAYAAYAYAYAY!
As you can see, I'm quite busy with the exercising and the beautifying.
4. That's all for now, peeps.

Things
Holy Pathetic Patty, right?
But today's a new day (even if I have a headache and I hate my outfit and I really just want to go home)! There's appointment-based exercise in my future!
2. I just signed up for unlimited now-through-the-end-of-the-year Dailey Method classes. Let's see how this goes, shall we?
The bonus is that you have to reserve your spot in advance so I'm thinking that if I have a specific date and time that I've said I'll be somewhere, I'll follow through. I'm trying to improve my core strength and boot camp is really hard on the ol' knees, so my fingers are crossed that I'll stick with it.
This Dailey Method business was NOT PRETTY AT ALL, but I really felt it without feeling it in my knees. And when I say NOT PRETTY AT ALL, I'm not even kidding. I kept waiting for all the beautiful women in their LuLu Lemon gear to break a sweat but they didn't...I sweated enough for all of them, I'm pretty sure. I was self-conscious of that, but IT'S EXERCISE, so oh well. But really, all the poses and the squatting and folding of the body in weird positions were NOT PRETTY AT ALL. I know this for certain because of all the damn mirrors in that place.
3. OOH OOH OOH! But something very exciting has happened! I just realized! These beautiful people had their second baby yesterday!
And while looking for a Daina/Nate picture, I came across this one and OMG I'M ABOUT TO BE EATEN BY MY HAIR:
4. And now it's time for me to go get my hairs did.

This recipe is a liar.
Only 15 minutes of constant stirring to make the rice pudding absorb
most of the milk? LIES! I'm pushing 40 and I'm not done!

OMG! THE SUN! IT'S IN GUAM!
(I know Aly will argue that Guam is much nicer than the weather on my
phone would have us believe, but I swear to you it's the first time
I've ever seen an indicator that wasn't lightening'y.)
Please advise
A chunk of the GGB had these slinky marks all over the sidewalk.
That's not a pressure washer, is it?

Now that I'm so fancy I'll have to stop with the "OMG YOU GUYS GUESS WHAT!" blog posts. Maybe.
OMG YOU GUYS I GOT A NEW JOB!
A job that is not only a really SMART decision, but one I'm REALLY excited about!
I'll still be consulting at the same big company, but instead of being a consultant through a small communications firm whose contract is negotiated quarterly and who is never really sure if she'll be employed in another three months, I'll be a consultant through a REALLY FANCY global firm which means I'll be a permanent employee of the REALLY FANCY firm and I'll get all the exciting benefits I've been missing since I left PG&E.
Like holiday pay!
And health insurance where I don't have to pay $118 to see the doctor!
And VACATION TIME, DELICIOUS VACATION TIME!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm also sorta stunned that they want me because I've never met a dumb or an ugly employee of this company (and I've met a lot of them) so I guess that means that OMG YOU GUYS I AM SMART AND GOOD LOOKING!!!!!
Things
2. I found these necklaces while internetting today:
That one is "Shot Through the Heart" and this one is "Love Bites":
I sorta want them both.
Even though the Love Bites one brings up a question I struggle with every time I hear the song on the radio: Is Def Leppard saying that love bites as in love sucks? Or are they singing about hickeys? I could probably look up the lyrics and find the answer but that would require Googling something and quite frankly, I'm too busy Googling important things like "what happens when a team is eliminated from the amazing race," "solid gold dancers," "orange kit kats" and "should heaven be capitalized."
Those are all actually in my recent Google search history, by the way.
3. For you Foursquare users out there:
That's sorta slutty, no?

Just going to Peet's and then coming home to work but I am so excited
for our first cold(ish), dreary day because I've been waiting to wear
this sweater since I bought it at a CAbi party a couple months ago.

The lighting makes my hair look wetter than it is. It won't fully kick
ass for a couple hours.
Guam
I've posted Guam's weather before and if you're thinking it's just a
coincidence that it's the exact same as it was the last time, you'd be
sort of wrong. It IS the exact same as it was last time but it's not a
coincidence because for the four or five months I've been watching, it
hasn't changed A LICK.
So anyway internet, i'm just letting you know that it's still the
same. A+ for consistency, Guam!

I live a sporty lifestyle!
The teacher kept saying that it just takes practice...you have to hit 1,000 balls and over time, you'd figure stuff out.
1,000 balls.
1,000 balls.
1,000 balls.
Got it.
Anyway, that's your context.
Toward the end of the lesson he said "She's seen a lot more balls than you have..."
And I was SO GOOD and didn't giggle or say anything rude or agree that YES SIR-EE, SHE SURELY *HAS*!

A post with words!!
Yeah, sure.
So if I'm still a good candidate once they've done extra special tests on my blood, I'll go ahead and donate...even though it's a lonnnng-ass process. I used to do apherisis in college but it was part of a research study where I got paid $150 for my delicious white blood cells. This time it will be out of the goodness of my GODDAMN heart.
If you're not familiar, this means I'm going to sit in a big ass recliner while they take the blood out of one arm, spin it through a little thing-a-ma-bobber and then put it back in the other arm. And then because your blood is hanging around outside your body you get collllld, so a nice lady will come around and tuck you into warm blankets and give you warm water bottles to hold onto.
And there are movies!!
And of course, cookies afterwards!!
But anyhooters, they were telling me that with each pregnancy a woman becomes less and less desirable for apherisis because of the antibodies in her blood or whatever and that they have difficulty keeping the donor population up because women keep going and having babies and ruining it for everyone. I think they probably took one look at me and said "THAT WOMAN WILL NEVER GET A DATE, MUCH LESS PREGNANT! SIGN HER UP!!!!!"
2. I don't have anything else to report but I just realized I started the whole "look at my ticket stubs" thing 100 years ago and never followed through...so here you go:
This is one of the more recent stubs I have and it represents an evening I already blogged about:
In a nutshell, Leslie had a spare ticket, I went with her, I played the pretending-I-don't-see-you game with the bartender from TGI Fridays that I used to have the mega hots for.
Another recent one!
Team Texas and I went to San Antonio because the San Antonio Riverwalk is on one of the lists of 1,000 things to see before you die (must have been the US version because it wasn't ALL THAT and I can't imagine it made it onto the global list). As mentioned in the blog post about that trip, San Antonio Riverwalk is famous in our house because of the fine, fine film Cloak & Dagger.
This one is from 100 years ago when Christa and Carrie and Allison (and maybe Sassy Sarah too?) all taught at Allison's family dance studio. I LOVED (for reals) going to the shows because WHO DOESN'T LIKE 8-year-olds hip hopping to top 40 hits???
I can't say I remember this particular performance, but I'm sure it was special.
Here's another one I don't really remember, but SUE ME because it was fifteen years ago:
I remember that this was the makeup Pearl Jam concert that they played because Eddie Vedder was sick for the original show in San Francisco and jumped ship after a couple of songs. I don't specifically remember going to this show but I was dating Joe at the time (yeah, THAT Joe) and he was a major Pearl Jam fan and went to the SF show with me so I can only assume that he was at this one too.
And finally, here we have the Burning Man 2003 stub:
I'm 99% sure that was the year we met Team North Carolina. (HEY GREG! YOU'RE GREAT AND GORGEOUS!!!) I was going back through the archives to find Burning Man 2003 pictures to remind me of other exciting things that happened that year and I found THIS:
OMG SO YOUNG! OMG SUCH BIG, BLOND HAIR!!
Pictures from that year's Burning Man aren't so cute, but here's one of me and my (formerly) beloved Clive and Enrique:
And then the prettiest picture I've ever taken with my own two hands:
The end.
